The Quality Team of OregonASK serves afterschool programs by offering observation and assessment based on Oregon’s Quality Standards for Afterschool & Summer Programs. Like the Quality Rating Improvement System (QRIS) for licensed child-care sites, using our Framework creates opportunities for continuous improvement and recognizes a job well done.
The training philosophy at OregonASK is to improve the the quality of afterschool programs by providing relevant training and resources, including over 100 hours of training to nearly 400 afterschool providers in the last year. Half of those training hours were related to offering STEM content in afterschool. We worked on the road this spring, packing up our Wilsonville office to take trainings to school age providers in Springfield, Eugene, Medford, Bend, and Newport. More than 100 afterschool professionals attended our Road to Quality training events this spring.
Another project of the Quality Team is supporting licensed, school-age childcare sites in the and encouraging staff to participate in and log their professional development and education in The Oregon Registry. The Team has been working with 40 sites in 2014 and will add 5 more in the New Year.
