Participants will learn about the land and language distribution of Indigenous peoples in Oregon, explore Indigenous ways of being around geographic regions in Oregon, and consider ways to incorporate Indigenousness in their curriculum. These examples will help participants create a plan to celebrate Indigenous students in their programs.

Reflect on your previous experiences around the use of Land Acknowledgments and build knowledge through videos, real world examples and discussions to create meaningful Land Acknowledgment experiences in and out of your programs.
Study Lateral Kindness through an Indigenous Lens

Study the terms Lateral Kindness and Lateral Violence through video storytelling by Native people. After defining Lateral Kindness, discuss ways to apply this practice into your program and share examples around how this practice will be used in your program. View stories that will help you find and eliminate unkind practices in youth spaces.
