Day 1 of “Belonging by Design: A Transformative SEL Institute” introduces participants to Oregon’s Transformative Social Emotional Learning Framework with a focus on adult SEL and regulation as the foundation for belonging. Through interactive routines, reflection, and discussion, participants explore neuroscience-informed and culturally responsive practices that support safe, inclusive learning environments.
This session emphasizes practical strategies for self-regulation and co-regulation, supporting staff well-being, strengthening relationships, and creating conditions where youth feel seen, valued, and ready to learn.
Day 2: Putting Transformative SEL Into Practice
February 27, 2026 | 9:15–12:15 PM | Virtual (Zoom)
Set One | Learning Environments & Curriculum | 3 ORO Hours
Day 2 supports afterschool and youth program leaders to apply Oregon’s Transformative SEL Standards using youth-centered practices, planning, and reflection. Participants analyze belonging, co-regulation, collaborative problem solving, and growth indicators while completing make-and-take tools and a 10-day implementation plan aligned to program routines, youth voice, and developmental needs across K–12 settings.
This session is highly applied and designed to help participants move from learning to practice immediately.
